December 8, 1964 – June 11, 2021 It is with profound sadness we announce that Randy John Wickens passed away on Friday, June 11, 2021 at the Ottawa General Hospital at the age of 56 after a long courageous battle with cancer. Cherished son of Dorval and Elda Wickens of Arnprior, Ontario. Dearly loved brother of Sandra (Scott) of Orleans, Ontario and Rick (Nancy) of Renfrew, Ontario. Predeceased by his grandparents Melvin and Judith Wickens of Starks Corners, Quebec and Eric and Hilda Pasch of Ladysmith, Quebec. Randy will be tremendously missed by his large extended family that he leaves behind. Randy worked for the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board for 35 years until his recent retirement in December, 2020. He took great pride in his work as a Chief Custodian and was very well respected. He worked at Farley Mowat Public School for the latter part of his career and spoke fondly of his colleagues and his interactions with the children as part of his job. Randy loved the outdoors immensely and always said his favourite sport was fishing. He enjoyed camping with his many friends in various parks around Canada and the United States. He also loved travelling and going on day trips to Brockville, Montreal and Huntsville to name a few. A special thanks to the staff at the Ottawa General Hospital, (Hematology 6E) for their care and compassion of Randy during his last few weeks. A small private memorial will be held at the Boyce Funeral Home Ltd. in Arnprior, Ontario.
