Obituary of Arthur "Art" Joseph Charbonneau
January 9, 1922-July 13, 2018
Arthur Joseph Charbonneau of Arnprior peacefully passed away, surrounded by the love of his family, on Friday July 13, 2018 at the age of 96. Beloved husband for 75 years of Noreen Jean Louise Charbonneau (McLachlan). He is the last surviving child of Jean Baptiste Charbonneau and Minnie Charbonneau (Lapierre). Brother in law to Glen and Pat McLachlan and Borden and Joyce McLachlan. Predeceased by brothers Emile (Marie), Theodore (Mattie), Legori (Antonia), Thomas (Evelyn), Oscar (Donna) and sisters Delphine (Harry), Cecile (Ken), Doris (Orvil) and Theresa. Predeceased by brothers-in-law Howard (Glenna), Mac (Pat), Jack (Dorothy), Jim (Mariann), Bryson (Karin) and sister-in-law Vivian (Frank). Loving father of Carolyn (Bob), Margaret, George (Ann) and John Charbonneau. Will lovingly be remembered by his grandchildren Joanna (Jamie), Roberta, Neil (Kerry), Amy, and Matthew and his great-grandchildren Robert and Ole. He is survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Art served from 1942 - 1945 during WW II as a member of the 2 Canadian Tank Troop Workshop which was a part of the Royal Canadian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers. He played an active role in the liberation of France, Belgium and the Netherlands and participated in the final push into Germany. Art worked at Kenwood Mills / Huyck Canada for 45 years. He was very involved with service to his community. He served as an elder of Grace St. Andrews United Church. For over 40 years he was a trustee on the Renfrew County School Board. Art loved to tend to his garden and even more he enjoyed sharing the fruits of his labour with others. Sharing his talents were not restricted to gardening; Art helped many friends and relatives to build their cottages and to renovate their homes. He also loved to build all sorts of wonderful wood working projects and enjoyed giving the finished product to friends and family. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. The family wishes to extend their sincere thank you to Dr. Jenn Becker and to all of the doctors, nurses and staff at the Arnprior and District Memorial Hospital. We are also grateful for the support that Art has received from the Assisted Living Services program as well as the Department of Veterans Affairs. A special thank you to Anna, Susie, Margaret Ann, Nancy, Cindy, Joan and Debbie for their dedication, support and loving care. Arrangements by the Boyce Funeral Home Ltd., 138 Daniel Street North, Arnprior. Visitations will be held Monday July 16, 2018 between the hours of 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and after 9:30 a.m. Tuesday morning. A Celebration of Life will follow visitation Tuesday July 17, 2018 in the Boyce Chapel at 11:00 a.m. Interment White Lake Community Cemetery. Arnprior Legion Branch # 174 to gather for a service Monday evening at the funeral home at 6:45 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to The Arnprior Regional Health Foundation or The Royal Canadian Legion.
