Obituary of Douglas "Doug" Belton
Douglas Glen Belton
December 16, 1947 – September 8, 2024
It is with immense sadness and extremely broken hearts that we announce Doug’s passing on Sunday September 8, 2024 at the Arnprior and District Memorial Hospital, peacefully surround by family and loved ones after a brave and courageous fight due to cancer. He was 76 years old. Dearly loved, proud and admired father of Robert (Lori) of Spencerville, Kimberly Duff (Jason) of Arnprior and Julie Benoit (Raymond) of Calabogie. Much loved and respected brother of Garry Belton and Donald Belton (Kim), also of Arnprior. Doug will be truly missed by so many. He will be lovingly remembered by his best friend Bernadette Theros, whom he shared many happy years with. Predeceased by both his mother Edith Belton (nee Presley) and his father Charles Belton. Cherished grandpa to Justin, Jayden and Adam, special “Grandpa Doug” to Jennifer and Khole. He will be missed by our “special” aunt Gail. Doug will also be fondly remembered by his nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. We can’t forget his precious “Fur-babies” Maggie and Rosie, who Doug could often be seen trying to sneak treats to when he thought no one was looking. Doug was a hardworking family man who spent his life dedicated (to various roles) at BASF until his retirement in 2002. He loved golf and especially his yearly vacations down south with his brothers and buddies. He was always ready with a smile and a “jig”. He had a huge heart that was filled with warmth, kindness and compassion and was always ready to offer a helping hand. He will be forever missed. The family wish to thank the Doctors and Nurses at the Ottawa General Hospital as well as the Arnprior Hospital for their excellent care and compassion. Doug’s arrangements have been entrusted to the Boyce Funeral Home Ltd., 138 Daniel Street N., Arnprior where visitation will be held Friday September 13, 2024 from 9:30 -11:00 a.m. A Liturgy of the Word Service will follow in the Boyce Chapel at 11:00 a.m. Reception to follow at the Boyce Reception Centre.
