Obituary of Mary Scheel
Mary Margaret Scheel
(nee Otterson)
May 6, 1945 – June 27, 2024
With heavy hearts, we announce that Mary peacefully passed away at the Arnprior and District Memorial Hospital on Thursday morning, June 27, 2024, with her three girls by her side. She was 79.
Mary was the beloved wife of the late Brent Scheel (May 30, 2018). Their love was a true partnership, and she missed him dearly every day after his passing. She was a devoted mother to Angei O’Neill (Ryan) of Arnprior, Jennifer Muldoon (Ryan) of Braeside, Pam (Alex Novosad) of Renfrew, and Murray Scheel (Brian Crane) of Washington. Her children were the center of her world, and she always made sure they knew how deeply they were loved.
Her grandchildren were her pride and joy: Taylor (Daphne) and her daughter Danika, Davis (Jackie), Corrigan, Ronin, Marshall, Edey, Wyatt, and Ryden. Mary delighted in their accomplishments, big and small, and cherished every moment spent with them. She created a lifetime of memories, filled with laughter and love, for her family and friends.
Mary was the dear sister of the late Theresa Fortier (late Ernie) and sister-in-law of the late Donald Scheel (Leslie). Daughter of the late William and Cecil Otterson. Raised in a home filled with love and kindness, she carried those values throughout her life.
Mary worked as an RPN at the Arnprior Hospital from 1971 to 1983, where her gentle care and compassionate spirit touched many lives. Her warmth and sense of humor were her trademarks, making everyone feel special and welcome. Mary loved crafting and knitting, often creating hats, sweaters, and blankets for newborn babies at the hospital and those in need. She never complained and always put others first.
Special thanks to Dr. Kurian and the nurses at the Arnprior Hospital for their compassionate care, and to Father Ryan for his kindness.
Mary’s arrangements are entrusted to Boyce Funeral Home Ltd. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish in Braeside on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at 11:00 a.m., followed by interment at Arnprior Malloch Road Cemetery. Reception to follow at the church hall.
In memory of Mary, donations may be made to the Arnprior Regional Health Foundation.
