December 15, 1942 – March 7, 2024
It is with a heavy heart, we announce the passing of Alexander (Zander/Sandy) Nicol, at the Arnprior and District Memorial Hospital. Hailing from Rosyth, Scotland, Sandy embarked on his initial transatlantic journey at 17. He spent much of his life in USA, from his service in the US Military, working as a plumber, Trip Director and finally as a Cruise Director for Norwegian Cruise Lines. Eventually, his journey led him back to Canada, where he opened a travel agency, and became known as “Captain Sandy”.
Travelling beside him for 37 years, his wife Carol (nee Cavanagh). Leaving behind his cherished daughter Blair Vance (Jackson) and perhaps his greatest treasures, his grandchildren, Paddy and Nora. Brothers Derek (Pauline) London, UK, Douglas (Margaret) Kirkcaldy, Scotland, his extended family of nieces and nephews Barry, Tracy, Laura, Steven, Adam, Ashely, Jon, Lindsay, Andrea and Kendra as well as a network of cousins and friends in USA, Canada and the UK, who all cherish the memories of humor.
Sandy was predeceased by his parents Jim and Dinah Nicol, sister Irene and brother-in-law Cecil Cavanagh (Christine). He leaves behind fond memories with mother-in-law Hilda Cavanagh (late Mervyn) and brother-in-law Jim Cavanagh (Beth).
