Obituary of Isobel Munro

Isobel Johnston Munro (McNab) March 23 1925-April 30, 2023 Isobel passed away peacefully at Hospice Renfrew after living 98 years of a full, wonderful life. She was the devoted wife of the late JC (Jim) Munro, an awesome mother to Steve (Theresa) (late Diane), a wonderful Nan to Mauryah (Rich) and Holly (Ryan) as well as a Great Gramma (GG) to Van. Isobel was a beautiful daughter to John and Bella McNab, a loving sister to Donald McNab (Betty) and devoted aunt to Lindsay McNab (Connie), the late Doug McNab (Julia), Kim Jenkins (Dennis), Jeff McNab (Chantal) as well as many grand nephews and nieces. She was a second mom to Peter and Heather Boyce. Isobel grew up in Waba and White Lake. She received her nurse’s training with her best friends Edna and Alda at the Ottawa Civic hospital in 1946. Upon graduation, she began her 42 year nursing career at the Arnprior Hospital (now ARHF) where she was an operating room nurse and then the Director of Nursing for many years. She cared deeply for her patients and her nursing staff and was a fair and competent leader in her field. Isobel was an accomplished cross stitcher and knitter as well as an avid golfer and fan of sports. As an active member of the Arnprior Curling Club for 75 years she was an excellent curler, proud to represent Arnprior on many women’s and mixed teams at the provincial level. She was also skip of a women’s team who represented Ontario at the national level with Thelma Lindsay, Geraldine Macklem and Vivienne Johnston. She will be deeply missed by her family and by her many friends. Thanks to Hospice Renfrew for their excellent care, and to Dr. Ridgen and Arnprior Regional Health staff for their hard work and caring for Isobel. Isobel's arrangements have been entrusted to the Boyce Funeral Home Ltd., 138 Daniel Street North, Arnprior where visitation will be held Monday May 8, 2023 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. and again Tuesday from 9:30 a.m.- 10:45 a.m. A Celebration to honour the life of Isobel Munro will be held Tuesday May 9, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at the Boyce Chapel.
