Obituary of Glendon (Red) Cameron
It is with a broken heart and many tears, we announce the passing of Glendon James Cameron (Red) unexpectedly on Mar 18, 2023 at Barrhead, Alberta. Red was the son of Ellwood Archibald Cameron and Amy Letitia (nee Barber). To all who knew him he was a humble, down to earth and generous soul who enjoyed the simple pleasures in life. A pipe fitter by trade which brought him to Alberta in the early sixties and where he chose to make his home, he was a longtime member of Local 488 (Plumbers & Pipefitters Union) until he retired a few years ago. The Alberta landscape of gas and oil plants pays testimony to his life here as a hard worker and a man who enjoyed his trade having helped build them. Red leaves behind many who will miss him tremendously -his three daughters: Kimberlee, Patricia (George), Jacquelyn (Doug) as well as granddaughters Kristen (Giyab), Alexandria, great grandson Mohammed, brother Brian and Red's best friend of more than 50 yrs Hugh O'Neill (Uncle Hughie). He will also be missed by the many friends and neighbours of Alberta Beach where he lived for more than 30 plus years, a familiar sight in his ball cap and suspenders. There will be no service or memorial and Red's ashes will be interred at his birthplace of Arnprior, Ontario in the family plot. In lieu of flowers, donations to animal rescues Scars or Zoe's are welcome.
