Obituary of Courtland McLaren

September 8, 1937 – March 21, 2023 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Courtland McLaren, who left this world to be with his Lord and Saviour, on Tuesday March 21, 2023; at the Arnprior and District Memorial Hospital at the age of 85. Courtland was the last surviving member of his family and was predeceased by his beloved wife Patricia (Lythe) (2017). Courtland is survived by his long-time friend and caregiver Simone Prazeres, as well as his dear long-time friends Ta Sai, Lita, and Ashley. Though Courtland had no immediate family left, he was fortunate to have many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly. Courtland was born to Alexander and Bythea (Mayhew) McLaren and grew up in a large family with 8 brothers and 4 sisters. He was predeceased by all of his siblings: Norman, Gus, Malcolm, Kenneth, Jack, Allan, David, Bea, Jean, Arlene, and Iva. Despite the loss of his siblings over the years, Courtland never lost his kindness, his wit, or his love for life. Throughout his life, Courtland worked hard and made many friends. He was known for his generosity, his sense of humor, and his love for animals. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Visitation will be held at the Boyce Funeral Home Ltd., 138 Daniel Street North, Arnprior Sunday March 26, 2023 from 10:00 a.m.-11:15 a.m. The funeral service will be held in the Boyce Chapel at 11:30 a.m. Courtland will be laid to rest in the spring at Goshen Cemetery, Renfrew, Ontario.
