Obituary of Emilie Mathisen

(nee Lund) November 12, 1926 – March 13, 2023 With deep sadness, the family of Emilie Mathisen announces that she passed away peacefully at The Grove Nursing Home in Arnprior on Monday morning, March 13, 2023 at the age of 96. Beloved wife of the late Reinhardt Mathisen (2011). Dear mother of Erik (Shannon) and Inger Bosa (Giuliano). Predeceased by son Peter and daughter Anne Marie (2006) (Maurice Periard). Cherished grandmother of Bonnie, Bob (Stacey), Steven (Amber), Andrew, Tina, Kristy (John), Marisa, Rosanna (Brad), Patrick and Samantha. Great grandmother of Violet, Elliot, Brody, Lydia, Aria, Jackson, Jeremy, Emily and Evelyn. Survived by her sister Alice and brother Just of Denmark. Also predeceased by her brother Asger and sister Bitten. Born in Denmark, she was 14 at the start of WW2 German occupation. Married in 1950 and later emigrating to Canada in 1957, Emilie led a full life and will be remembered for her kindness, generosity and unwavering commitment to her family and community. Together, alongside Reinhardt, they owned and operated the Pine Grove Store where they brought joy to countless customers over the years. Mrs. Mathisen had a natural talent for customer service and had a way of making everyone feel welcome in their store. She had a contagious smile and an infectious laugh that will be missed by all who knew her. In addition to running the store, Emilie also worked at Canadian Tire in Arnprior for many years. She was a dedicated employee who took great pride in her work and always went above and beyond to help her colleagues and customers. She was also a proud member of the Mons Rebekah Lodge. She enjoyed the camaraderie and sense of community that came with being a part of the lodge, and she cherished the friendships she made there. Emilie’s arrangements have been entrusted to the Boyce Funeral Home Ltd., 138 Daniel Street North, Arnprior. A Celebration of Emilie’s Life will be held in the spring when the family can gather. If you wish to honor Emilie’s memory, a donation to the Terry Fox Foundation would be appreciated. Emilie was a great admirer of Terry Fox and his Marathon of Hope, and she took great pleasure in running the annual Terry Fox Run.
