Obituary of Velma Dolan

(nee McLean) June 3, 1936 – November 13, 2022 With sadness we announce that Velma passed away peacefully at the Arnprior and District Memorial Hospital in the early morning hours of Sunday November 13, 2022. Velma Jean Dolan of Arnprior, Ontario at the age of 86. With wonderful memories of having celebrated her birthday with family and friends. Beloved wife of the late David Dolan (1997). Loving mother of Heather Mansell (David) of Ottawa, Sharon Marshall and William Dolan (Cindy James) both of Arnprior. Predeceased by an infant daughter Gail Ann. Velma was the proud grandmother of Thomas (Deb), Kimberley (Dan), Rodney, Adam (Kayla), Kaylie (Ian), James, Melissa (Mike) and Steven (Kirsten) and cherished great-grandmother of Oliver, Emma, Eric, Max, Zander, Aria, Brianna, Clayton, Clarissa and Silas. Velma was predeceased by her parents William “Bill” and Anna Rose McLean and was the last surviving member of her siblings, Alec, Lola, Jessie, Angus, Nellie, Frances and Gordon. She will be missed by many nieces and nephews. Velma enjoyed her long-time work at the Grove Nursing Home, was an avid Bingo player and had a love for owls and knitting. She would knit baby hats for the newborns at the hospital and well sought-after dish cloths for family and friends. Her loving ways and special talents will be missed. Visitation will be held at the Boyce Funeral Home Ltd., 138 Daniel Street North, Arnprior Thursday November 17, 2022 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. and after 10:00 a.m. Friday. Funeral Service will be conducted in the Boyce Chapel Friday November 18, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. with a reception to follow in the Boyce Reception Centre. Interment St. Thomas Anglican Cemetery, Woodlawn. In memory of Velma, a donation may be made to the University of Ottawa Heart Institute or to the Canadian Cancer Society.
