Obituary of Orville Blackburn

September 7th, 1921 – September 27th, 2022 (WWII Veteran) (Masonic Lodge) (Retired – Ontario Hydro) The family of Orville James Blackburn announce his peaceful passing at the Arnprior and District Memorial Hospital on Tuesday September 27th, 2022. Orville was happy to have recently celebrated his 101st birthday with family and friends. Beloved husband of the late Effie Blackburn (nee McMillan) (November 15th, 2020). Loving father of Linda Strong (Gail) and the late Jim Blackburn (April 6th, 2020) (Kim). Cherished grandfather of Jason (Jill), Joey, the late Jordan Schnob (September 23rd, 2020) (Megan), Ashley, Amy (Mike) and great-grandfather of Cole and Robbie. Predeceased by parents David and Catherine (Roach) Blackburn, late wife Gladys Campbell and brother Lorne Blackburn (late Dorothy). Orville retired from Ontario Hydro in 1980 as an accomplished mechanic and went on to devote his time to his beloved St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church. A Big Thank-You to the staff at Island View Retirement Residence, the Doctors and Nurses at the Arnprior Hospital and all who gave comforting support and prayers to Orville and his family. Private family services will be held at the Boyce Funeral Home Ltd., 138 Daniel Street North, Arnprior. As an expression of sympathy, a donation may be made to the St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Arnprior or to the Arnprior and District Humane Society.
