Obituary of Birthe Lang

Please share a memory of Birthe to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Birthe Anna Lang (nee Simonsen), died peacefully on Wednesday June 15th, 2022 surrounded by family. Leaving to mourn her, is her husband of 68 years, Ronald, and her children Harold (Cindy), Heather, Stephen (Jeannette), John (Bev) and Christopher. Loving grandmother to Tanya, Curtis (Lorne), Andrew (Alicia), Alison, Harrison, Dylan (Rachel) and Aaron, and great grandmother to Athena, Emma, Milla, Samuel and Meka. Mom was the last surviving child of Simon and Julie Simonsen, and was predeceased by her two brothers, Erik and Aage, as well as her sister-in-law Shirley Page, and nephew Richard Janes. Mom will be missed by many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, as well as many nieces, nephews and dear friends. Mom was born on June 8, 1933 in Korsør, Denmark, and as a little girl lived through the occupation of her beloved homeland. This was an event that shaped her outlook on life. Mom came to Canada in 1949 for what was to be a “short stay” with her beloved Uncle John and Aunt Nellie. As life would have it, she met Dad at a barn dance, and as they say, the rest is history. Mom spent many years volunteering for Cancer Canada and Meals on Wheels, and was a firm believer in giving back to the community and supporting those most in need. She was a prolific knitter, to say the least, she loved antiques, was an amazing dancer, was a cracker jack bridge and euchre player, as well as a gourmet cook (her 8 foot long freezer being a testament to this), looked forward to dressing up at Halloween, and loved a good joke (even the off-colour ones). We cannot imagine life without our dear mother, but we take comfort in the many loving memories she gave us over the years. A special thank you to the loving and caring staff at the Arnprior Villa, where mom was able to live semi-independently these last number of months. Mom would also want to acknowledge her many caregivers over the years, and in particular, Donna, Diane, Patrick, Melissa and Ireland. Private viewing for the immediate family has taken place, followed by cremation. Public visitation will take place at Boyce Funeral Home, 138 Daniel Street North, Arnprior, on Sunday, June 19th, 2022 at 11:00 a.m., with memorial service commencing at noon, and followed by a light lunch. The memorial service will be webcast live and can be found to the left of this page under the donations tab. For cellular devices, please use the drop down arrow at the top of this page. If you are inclined to make a donation, please consider the Arnprior Regional Health Foundation, the Arnprior Food Bank, the CNIB or a charity of your choice. But the best way to honour her memory, is to treat people the way she would have treated them - with love and kindness.
