Obituary of Robert "Robbie" Burton

Please share a memory of Robert "Robbie" to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
May 7, 1950 – October 6, 2021 It is with heavy hearts that we announce Robbie’s passing at the Arnprior and District Memorial Hospital, Wednesday October 6, 2021 at the age of 71 with his loving wife Lynn by his side. Robbie was a lifelong resident of the Ottawa Valley, born in Braeside, Ontario to the late Eric and Eunice Burton. He was a passionate community volunteer and sportsman who brought out the best in others in hockey, golf, football and softball. He dedicated his career to public service in the federal government, leading national IT projects through team building and mentorship. On Thursday afternoons he could be found at the Arnprior Golf Club playing for quarters with his best friends of many years, saying “its not the amount of money, but the direction of the flow”. He was a tremendous father, brother, uncle and grandfather who loved family dinners and always made time to throw the ball, tie skates, and tell stories. Robbie deeply loved his wife, always let her have her way, and enjoyed every moment they were together. He proudly served as President of the Arnprior Optimist Club, member of the ADMH Partners in Caring Campaign Steering Committee, Arnprior Golf Club Board and Director of United Way Renfrew County. He was a founding member and a lifetime player of the Ringers golf tournament, and after all, “Who has more fun than the Ringers?”. Robbie was the admired father of Kelly and Eric Burton (Amanda). Adored Poppy of Seth, Eric, Hana, Elijah, Avery, River, Amelia, Alwyn and Violet. Cherished brother of Carolyn Moore and brother-in-law of Frank Muretti (Kathleen) and Jo-Ann McGlone (Ron). Beloved uncle of Philip Moore (Patti), Erica Nicholson (Ken), Robin Langford (Kirk), Jody Moore (Crystal), and their children. Robbie’s family would like to extend a special thanks to the Arnprior Hospital staff who cared for him with great passion and respect in his final months. Robbie’s arrangements have been entrusted to the Boyce Funeral Home Ltd., 138 Daniel Street North, Arnprior where visitation will be held Wednesday October 13, 2021 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. and after 10:00 a.m. Thursday. A Celebration of Robbie’s Life will be held Thursday October 14, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in the Boyce Chapel. The service will be Live Webcast and can be found to the left of this page.
