I loved working with Denis at CBSA we had a lot of laughs during our early morning conversations. We kept in touch when I changed jobs by email and lunches. I miss him. My memory will be our last lunch and huge hug when we were leaving. My condolences to his family. RIP Denis ❤️

Denis and I were best friends in the 70's and early 80's. I always thought we would get together some summer day and reminisce about the good old days at Zwicks Island in Belleville, camping at the Outlet or Bon Echo, exploring the haunted house, the apartment we shared in Ottawa, our 1979 Eurorail trip across Europe from Barcelona to Athens and Italy to Denmark... complete with a stay on a boat in Amsterdam's canal.
There are lots of good memories of Denis and the trouble we used to get into among the old gang – Clive, Rob, Bean, Nancy, Louise, my sister Joyce, and so many others whose lives he touched. Even though we scattered across the continent, Denis is fondly remembered by all of us. Condolences to his family. Enjoy some of the pictures we've dug up!
Denis, we raise a glass to your memory. Rest well, dear old chum!

Dennis was Best Man at our wedding 47 yrs ago. I knew him all through high school at Centennial Secondary in Belleville. We both loved playing music and I'll never forget the trip to Ottawa with his mother driving so Dennis could buy a Moog Synthezier and it was during a n ice storm, his mother lost control, we did 2X360's right on a 2 lane highway and ended going straight in our own lane, Michele told her mother don't do that again. We exchanged Xmas cards with Dennis every yr and the occasional phone call.It was shocking news and we were deeply moved, so many memories.Theresa painted him a picture of a dragon 30+ yrs ago so his passion for dragons started early. A dear friend, our prayers go out during this difficult time to all friends and family.

Sincerest sympathies and condolences to the family. I met Denis when I joined the CBSA in 2015 and quickly realized that while he may present himself as shy and quiet at first blush, there was a depth of experience and humour just waiting to bubble up. My heart broke when I heard the news and I hope he is at peace.

It was with such sadness yesterday that I read of Denis' passing. Seems like just yesterday that we worked together at WD. Your signature sweater always brought a good chuckle to our special little gang. Anytime I will now hear a Beatles song, I will have a soft thought of you Denis. My sincerest sympathies to the family. RIP my friend.

I knew Denis for many years having worked with him at Western Economic Diversification and the Canadian Border Services Agency. He was a gentle kind soul, funny and a good friend. I know that many will morn his loss as I do. My heart felt condolences to his family at this time, know that many would have attended his service if not for the present circumstances. Stay Strong.

Received the sad news only today. Deepest condolences to the family.
Denis: You were a dear acquaintance and work colleague. Even after you left Western Economic Diversification, you were part of the "WD alumni" who occasionally met for lunch or breakfast: Nancy, Shirley, Vivian, Lynda, Phil and me (occasionally joined by my spouse Trish, who also held you in high regard). Our friendly bunch maintained caring contact and shared high points and low points of our respective lives. You will be missed but your gentle soul will remain with us. Be at peace, dear friend.

Denis was a colleague for many years and it is hard to believe he is no longer with us. I am saddened that he did not enjoy a long retirement, maybe with that four-legged companion he had talked about getting, a dog that would get him out for long walks. Music seemed to follow Denis throughout his life - from the early years in a band to later years with a keyboard, a vast collection of CDs, and the occasional show at the NAC. Rest in peace Denis, we will miss you.

I got to know Denis through working with him at the CBSA. He sat behind me and being an early bird like me, we kept the same work schedule. We used to talk about books and I remember looking at his kindle and noticed he and I had similar tastes in literature. My deepest condolences to his friends and family. Rest in Peace Denis.

I worked with Denis over the past eight years, and I was very saddened to hear this news. He had a quick wit and a good sense of humour. Things are definitely duller around the office without his bright polo shirts to perk things up. He was also never shy in letting me know (quite correctly) how awful my handwriting is, and that's one of the things I'll miss the most.
My sincere condolences to the family.

One of the first people that gave me an introduction into CBSA and the government was Denis. He was from then on one of my favorite co-workers. His fantastic and quick humour made my day. I looked forward to dropping by his desk just to joke around with him and he gladly joined in when teasing our fellow co-worker Mary-Jane. He was a good man and I will miss him dearly. I am very sorry for your loss. Thank-you for sharing him with us.

I am so, so saddened to learn of Denis's passing. He had a dry sense of humour that made me chuckle, and I so enjoyed talking with him about the line-up at Folk Fest every year. I so wish that he had had a chance to enjoy his retirement and the possibilities it held. He will be missed, and he will be remembered!

It is the hardest thing in the world for me write to write succinctly about Denis without omitting any of his endearing qualities. Denis was a colleague of mine for many years. He was meticulous, articulate, dedicated, funny, and loving. My deepest condolences to all who knew him.
