Obituary of George Barrie
July 27, 1928 - June 16, 2019
With sadness the family of George Arthur Barrie announces that he passed away peacefully on Father’s Day, June 16, 2019, at the age of 90, but joyful with the knowledge that he is once again reunited with his true love, Aileen Violet Barrie nee Logan (2016). George leaves behind his children; Jan Lee (Terry), Steve Barrie (Wendy), Wendy Graham (Bruce) and Jeff Barrie (Colleen) as well as grandchildren and great-grandchildren; Jodi Hendricks (Frank), McKenna and Finley, Ashley Stufko (Luke) and Lincoln, Lee Barrie (Emma) and Annie, Barrie Graham (Kathleen), Lauren and Gavin, Kurtis Graham (Bailey) and great-bampa to Remington George, Alyssa Barrie (Matt) and G-Paw to Julia Barrie. Survived by his one remaining sibling, Beth Haward (Ritchie), sisters-in-law Isabel Fulton (late Ray) and Annabelle Smith (late Lorne Logan). He will be missed by nieces Linda Miller and Lorna Pleau as well as family and his Villa friends. George was predeceased by son Glen (1957) and grand-daughter Kaitlin Graham (1986). Predeceased by brother Lester (late Beatrice), sisters Lee Heintzman (late Gordon), Joyce Talbot (late Dick), Ethel Young (Earl) and parents Arthur and Elsie (Laughlin). Special thanks to his Garden Terrace family; Jane Burt, Brenda Asselstine, Fay Papadakos and Pauline Cherry. Dad was a long-time farmer, Drainage Contractor and Trans Canada Pipelines Drainage Consultant. He created an island on the Madawaska River and was a Hydro Dam builder. Very Worshipful Brother George Barrie was a long-time stalwart member of Madawaska Lodge # 196 in Arnprior and Past Grand Steward of the Grand Lodge of A.F.& A.M. of Canada in the Province of Ontario. Arrangements by the Boyce Funeral Home Ltd., 138 Daniel Street North, Arnprior. Visitations will be held Thursday June 20, 2019 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. and after 9:30 a.m. Friday. Funeral Service will be celebrated Friday June 21, 2019 in the Boyce Chapel at 11:00 a.m. Interment White Lake Community Cemetery. Masonic Service will take place Thursday at Boyce Funeral Home at 6:30 p.m. In memory of George, donations gratefully accepted to the Grove Redevelopment Fund, (keep our loved ones close to home).
