Mr. Acres was a favourite teacher of mine. He taught me grade 8 at Putman Intermediate school. One special memory was of him reading aloud to us last thing on Fridays. The book was The Boy Next Door and I've never forgotten it. A kind, caring teacher.

Condolences to Aunt Fran, Kimberley, Kerri, Kyle and Kendall. Uncle Donnie was a great man. I have not seen him for years but have fond memories of him from when I was a child. I was honoured to be the flower girl at Aunt Fran and Uncle Don's wedding. I recall visiting them in Ottawa when I was a kid and we got to play with the poodles and they took me to my first movie. My mom almost called Laurie "Tammy" but Grandma reminded her that was what Aunt Fran called her dog! My mom always had great stories about early days with Aunt Vyvienne and Uncle Don when they were little kids at the farm. He is with them now. I think of you all often and wish I could be home to share memories and time with each of you. God Bless. Margo

Dear Fran, Kerri, and family,
Don was a person whom I held in very high esteem. He was courageous, kind, and generous and used his intelligence and strength to make students' lives better at Glashan Public School. It was a pleasure and a real honour to have known him and worked under his wise tutelage.
I feel heartened that he passed peacefully at home, amongst loved ones, doing what he loved most.
Again, my sincere and heartfelt condolences and I regret deeply that, due to travel abroad, we will not be able to attend his celebration of life service.
My best to you all.

Jodi and I wanted to pass on our condolences. Jodi and were fiends with Kim, but I also enjoyed hanging out with the 2K boys, many many moons ago. I had the pleasure of really getting to know Donnie when I was helping manage the farm while Don was recovering from a medical procedure. The arrangement was, I did the labour while Donnie gave me instructions. I lumbered around cute little fuzzy sheep while Donnie leaned over the manger. I wasn't use to the fuzzy deals and while Donnie had me distracted, one would clip me behind the knees and the rest would stamped over me. my goodness Don would laugh at that, I think Don had me around more for comic relief than helping on the farm - either way, I enjoyed our time together and was happy he was happy. My condolences to the family, Fran, Kim, Karri, Kyle and Kendall - I have very fond memories of your husband / father.

Of many memories of Uncle Don, the first that sticks out was a childhood trip to watch the Ottawa RoughRiders play at Lansdowne. He loved sports! He was teaching me about the game as we watched. I recall us jumping out of our seats to cheer a great play. The equally enthusiastic gentlemen in the row behind us spilled their beer on us as they jumped up too! They may better recall Uncle Don's stern Principal's voice ! It was a great outing. Uncle Don, you continue to live in our memories!

Dear Acres family,
So sorry to hear about Don's death. So many good memories come to mind right back to his dad, Cecil, showing sheep at the fairs. Always loved seeing Don and Dwayne and getting caught up on the goings on. As a teenager I always thought they were such handsome men. There is some comfort knowing that he was looking out for the animal he loved so much. May you find comfort in all the good memories you have. With heartfelt sympathy, Barbara Burton Newman

Although the encounters were few, the impressions are lasting. My sincere condolences.
