Obituary of Joan Reid

Agnes Joan Reid

(nee Smith)

April 5th, 1920 - January 20th, 2019

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Agnes Joan Reid of Arnprior, Ontario on Sunday, January 20th, 2019, in her 99th year. A life long resident of Arnprior, Joan was raised in the CPR Train Station in Sand Point, pre-deceased by her parents Harold and Amy Smith and her late husband Dr. A. H. Reid. Joan is survived by her sisters Molly MacPherson (Gerry) of Vancouver, B.C. and Betty Appleby (late Arthur) of Sand Point, Ontario. Joan was well known as a kind and caring person with a wonderful sense of humour and a true joy for life, regularly riding shotgun on a snowmobile well into her eighties. She is survived by children: Judith Repple (Gunther) and David (Helen) of Ottawa and Jamie (former wife Dorothy) of Vancouver, B.C. Joan is also survived by grandchildren Kurt Repple (Nadine), Jennifer Halkai, Joanna Repple, Megan Reid and Michael of Ottawa and Justin (Angela) of Toronto and Katie (Mark), Laura and Lisa Reid of Vancouver, B.C. Over her life Joan volunteered on a regular basis to help others (Meals on Wheels) and fed countless hotdogs, sandwiches and cookies over the years to every kid and friend brought to her door. Joan also leaves eleven great-grandchildren: Colton, Jackson, A.J., Joshua, Zoe, Ella, Wyatt, Dawson, Kolby, Cooper and Ethan. Special thanks to the staffs at the Arnprior Villa and Granite Ridge Care Community in Stittsville for their wonderful attention to our mother.  Arrangements by the Boyce Funeral Home Ltd., 138 Daniel Street North, Arnprior.  Visitation is scheduled for Thursday, January 24th from 10 am until time of Memorial Service at 12 noon at the Boyce Chapel.  Reception to follow at the Boyce Reception Centre.  In lieu of flowers donations to the Arnprior and District Memorial Hospital would be appreciated.
