Dearest Kaye and family,
My heart saddened when I heard that Grant had passed away. It happened quickly, too fast to come to grasps with it. I thought so much about it that I thought I had already sent in a condolence, my apologies.
I knew the Malloch family in a few ways. The first way was at the hockey rink. Grant would be there at the Nick Smith Centre or wherever Brent and Curtis were playing, standing and quietly cheering behind Arnprior's Team Goal net. Faithful to the core. Always the proud Poppa cheering on his boys! He loved it! From loving and watching his own sons playing hockey, down to watching his grandchildren. I asked Kaye yesterday when I had a beautiful visit with her what it was that she loved most about Grant, what was it in high school that drew her to him? She said "His kindness! He always was so kind to everybody. He just simply loved everybody"! Wow. Now, that is the nicest thing anyone could have said about them. I know myself, from the first time I met him, I thought the same of him. He looked at you with those kind blue eyes and gentle big smile. You could just feel how he felt inside - she's right. He was just so KIND.
The second way, I knew Grant and Kaye was Driving for the Seniors at Home, I would pick up Grant and take him down to the Adult Day Program at the Grove. He loved it there and everyone loved him. How could you not. I don't think that the both of them knew just what it was like driving into his driveway to get him. As I parked the vehicle I could see Grant heading across in front of his beautiful big picture windows to come to the front door. Both he and Kaye would be standing there smiling as I made it up their front steps. "Good morning Nancy" they would both say together smiling "How was your weekend? Did your boys make it home? Did you get up to your Trailor? Did you get to see your Mom and Dad?" Their genuine concern for what was going on in my life made me feel like I was so special, and of course I knew that they treated everyone that way.
What a couple! They complemented each other. The welcome and love didn't end there. As Grant and I would be driving around their circular driveway, Kaye would still be standing in the doorway, waving, blowing a kiss saying "Have a great day! Have fun - I love you!" Grant would smile and wave and say "I love you too" and then to me he'd say "She's one wonderful woman. She is the best person I know!"
Well, as we wave and blow kisses to Grant and say "Have a great day - have fun - we love you".... We know he'll be standing there at Heaven's gate welcoming us when we get there saying "Welcome, glad you're here. Hope you had fun, I've missed you and I love you" and his blue eyes will twinkle as always and his warm loving smile will be shining back at us saying "We're together again! My loving Kaye and family are all here. Life is good!"
God's speed Grant!
See you soon!
With love,
Nancy Peck and Tex Wilson and family
