Obituary of Douglas Lloyd Scheels

Scheels, Douglas Lloyd May 5, 1926—February 6, 2015 (Retired-Ontario Hydro, Line Foreman) Passed away peacefully at the Arnprior and District Memorial Hospital Friday morning, February 6, 2015. Doug Scheels of Arnprior in his 89th year. Beloved husband of Helen Scheels (nee Hutton). Much loved father of Glenn (Maureen Nummelin) Scheels of Kitchener and Lynn (Dan) Staddon of Port Elgin. Cherished grandfather of Krystin Scheels. Predeceased by sister Robena (late Howard) Patterson. Doug was a lifelong resident of Arnprior and very passionate about his town and his time at the cottage on Golden Lake. He worked over 40 years for Ontario Hydro and made many friends along the way. Doug was devoted to his family and active in his community, coaching hockey, saving the Grove and reminiscing about days gone by in the paper. Visitations at the Boyce Funeral Home Chapel, Visitation and Reception Centre, 138 Daniel Street N., Arnprior Monday February 9, 2015 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. and after 9:30 a.m. Tuesday. Funeral Service will be conducted Tuesday February 10, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in the Boyce Chapel. Interment Arnprior Albert Street Cemetery. In memoriams to the Grace St. Andrew’s United Church, the Arnprior Hospital “Partners in Caring” or the Alzheimer Society would be appreciated by his family.
