Clapp, Edith Mary September 4, 1917—March 14, 2012 We are sad to announce the death of Edith Mary Clapp (nee Austin). She passed away peacefully on March 14, 2012 at Arnprior and District Memorial Hospital. Born in 1917 in Wooler, Ontario, she was the daughter of Jack (A.G.) Austin and Leona Bell. She grew up in the telephone business that was started by her grandfather D.S. Austin, and she played saxophone in the family orchestra, Austins Arcadians. Never afraid of challenges, she had a long career with Bell Canada, first in Belleville and then in Ottawa. After retirement she travelled the world with her beloved husband Ralph Clapp who passed away in 2004. She is survived by a daughter Dianne Brearley (Michael), a grandson Matthew Brearley (Jennifer), great grandchildren James and Abigail Brearley, a sister Roma Wilkins (Russell deceased) and sister-in-law Jean Austin (Karl deceased).
