Veteran WW 11 and Korean War
Resident of the Perley Rideau Veterans Health Centre, he passed away peacefully at the Civic Campus of the Ottawa Hospital on Monday October 10, 2011 in his 85th year. Born and raised in Arnprior, David enlisted in the Canadian Army in 1942 and served with the Algonquin Regiment in France, Holland and Germany. Demobilized at the end of the war, he enlisted again in 1950 and served in Korea. He is survived by his children Darlene Smith (David), Allan McLaren (Cheryl) and Alexander McLaren, all of Ottawa, step daughters Jennifer Morris (Bryon) of Petawawa and Jeannette Ballantyne-Sliwowski (Stan) of Pembroke, grandchildren Jenna Morris, Kasia Maves, Terry Morris and Alexandra McLaren, two great grandchildren, Liila-Leigh Morris and Liam Gale, brothers Gus (Norma), Courtland (Pat) and sisters Bea (Bill), Jean (late Art) and Arlene (late Al). Predeceased by parents Alexander and Bythea McLaren, his wife Rose McLaren (2010), brothers Malcolm, Kenny, Jack, Allan, sister Iva and step son Douglas Ballantyne. Special thanks to the staff of the Rideau Perley Veterans Home and the Dialysis Unit of the Civic Campus of the Ottawa Hospital for their loving care.
Visitations at The
Boyce Funeral Home, Chapel, Visitation and Reception Centre
138 Daniel St. N., Arnprior
on Thursday October 13, 2011 from 11: a.m. until 1: 30 p.m.
A memorial service will follow in The Boyce Chapel followed by a luncheon in The Boyce Reception Centre.
Interment will be at Lakefield Cemetery, Lakefield Ontario on Friday October 14, 2011 at 1: 30 p.m.
