William Robert Dowd “Robbie”

February 18, 1955 – July 2, 2023

Retired- Carleton Bus Lines, Kinburn, Kemptville College, Karson Group, Stittsville

With incredible sadness, we announce the passing of Robbie, Best Friend and Husband, Father, Brother and Pappa. In the early morning hours of July 2, 2023, with his family surrounding him, Robbie passed away at the Ottawa General Hospital at the age of 68 and we lost our sunshine. During Robbie’s nine-month journey with cancer, he showcased his courage and strength and resilience to do things his way. Robbie’s legacy is deeply intertwined into the lives of his beloved wife and best friend Aline, together for 41 years, their loving children, Danielle (Mike), Robbie (Lorrie), Jeffrey (Rebecca), grand-children, Kaylee, Liam, Rian, Owen and Autumn and his four-legged buddies Jaxon and Dixie. Robbie is predeceased by his mother and father Robert H. (Bob) and Elizabeth (Betty) Dowd. Robbie’s siblings Arthur (Cindy), Ritchie (Patsy) and Jayne (Gary) will miss their big brother dearly. He will also be greatly missed by Uncle Clinton (Aunt Sharon) Dowd as well his many nieces and nephews. Robbie professional journey started at the young age in the garage at Carleton Bus Lines in Antrim where he started his mechanical career early by following his father around. He wore many hats during his 68 years from Mechanic to Teacher to Volunteer to Friend and he was never too far away. He always enjoyed trying to help, when mechanical problems / questions came in the door. During his retirement years, he enjoyed being outside with his dog Jaxon, who is still waiting for him at the front door, to return home to throw the ball for hours like they did. Being in his garage for hours, with Mike deciding what project they would finally finish. The countless conversations with his 3 boys about life and family. Robbie loved to cook and would be ready to try any new recipes with a Robbie twist and wanted his family around to try his new creation. Robbie’s passing is felt with monumental loss to all who had the privilege of knowing him. Robbie’s wishes for cremation have been entrusted to the Boyce Funeral Home Ltd. 138 Daniel Street North, Arnprior. To celebrate Robbie’s remarkable life, a celebration of his Life will be held at the Kinburn Community Centre on Saturday July 22, 2023, from 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm. In Robbie’s honour, those wishing to do so can make a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society or plant a tree in his memory. As we mourn Robbie’s departure from this world, let us remember him for his enduring love, his boundless generosity, and his indomitable spirit.
