Obituary of Patricia "Pat" Thompson

Patricia Dorothy Thompson (nee MacLaren) (Retired-Registered Nurse) It is with sadness that the family announces that Patricia Dorothy “Pat” Thompson passed away peacefully at the Arnprior and District Memorial Hospital Monday evening, October 24, 2022 at the age of 82 years. She would have celebrated her 83rd birthday on October 31st. Beloved wife of Bill Thompson for 61 years. Dearly loved mother of David Thompson, Robert Thompson (Jane), both of Arnprior and Julie Strike (Mark) of Ottawa. Cherished grandmother of Matthew, Alexander, Ashley and Brendan. Dear sister of Ann Munroe (Gordon) of Perth and sister-in-law of Susan Van Dusen Thompson (Douglas Bromley). Loved aunt of Michael, Christopher, Allan, Nicole, Pamela, Sean and Adam and dear friend of Lois Wallace. Predeceased by brother Elmer MacLaren. Daughter of the late Campbell and Mildred (Kenney) MacLaren. Pat graduated from the Victoria Hospital School of Nursing in Renfrew and later went on to work at the Arnprior Hospital until retirement. Pat enjoyed keeping in touch with her nursing school friends and colleagues over the years. Pat devoted her time to Grace St. Andrew’s United Church and was joint caretaker, alongside Bill, from 1993-2008. She will be remembered for her commitment to her family and profession. The family wishes to extend sincere thanks and appreciation to Dr. Gordon and the nursing staff at the Arnprior Hospital and the Grove Nursing Home. Patricia’s arrangements have been entrusted to the Boyce Funeral Home Ltd., 138 Daniel Street North, Arnprior. A service to celebrate Pat’s Life will be held Saturday, November 5, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. in the Boyce Chapel. Reception to follow in the Boyce Reception Centre. Interment Cobden Union Cemetery. In memory of Pat, a donation may be made to the Grove Nursing Home or to the Grace St. Andrew’s United Church, Arnprior.
