Rogers, Anna Catharine Kay
February 9, 1926March 9, 2010
(nee Brown)
After 84 years spent teaching, learning, travelling, reading for the love of reading, enjoying a good debate, sharing her faith and loving her family, Kay died peacefully on Tuesday morning, March 9, 2010 in Arnprior Hospital. Born in Cornwall, Kay moved to Vankleek Hill Ontario at age 9. She married her high school sweetheart, Gerald Gerry in 1950 and they celebrated their 50th anniversary shortly before his death in 2001. Kay was predeceased by her parents, Helen (Craig) and Edgar Brown, her sister Betty and her brothers Charles and Robert. She is survived by her brother, Norman (Ruth) Brown of Bayfield Ontario, her children Peter (Glenda) Rogers of Winnipeg, Manitoba and Jane (Mark) Tunney of Saint John N.B. Dear grandmother of Michael and Craig Rogers and Catharine, Eve and Joe Tunney. Also survived by her sisters in law, Sheila Brown of Cambridge Ontario, Phyllis Mitchell of Ottawa, her cousins, nieces and nephews. Her nephew David Mitchell (Carol Carter) was very special to her and we are forever grateful he lived near and loved her so much. A Queens 49 graduate, Kay taught at Arnprior and District High School for over 20 years. She was an active member of her community, volunteering and canvassing for charities. She enjoyed her association with the Arnprior Historical Society, the University Womens Club, her book club, her church and the Parkinsons Society amongst others. We will miss her sweet nature and selflessness and are glad she maintained her independent living until the end.
