From Deborah Davis. I first met Julie in 1966 -- we were both working at the (then) Dominion Bureau of Statistics for the summer and discovered that we would both be attending Trinity College at U. of T. that September and living at St Hilda's College, the women's residence. I was going into second year and Julie into first. We remained friends after graduation and traded experiences of working in a largely male environment -- Julie in the RCMP and I in the Canadian Armed Forces. When I was doing basic training at Chilliwack, and subsequently when I was stationed there, I would often spend the weekend with Julie in Vancouver. We even took a couple of road trips together. She was a great host -- and tour guide -- and always up for an adventure! We kept in touch even when stationed at opposite ends of the country and I treasure our long friendship. Always generous with her time and talents, when we both ended up in Ottawa she insisted on looking out exquisite items of her needlework to give to me and to donate to my church bazaar. I shall miss our lunch dates at Chartwell. Deborah.
