Obituary of Michael Hanson
With crushed hearts, we announce the unexpected death of Michael Scott Hanson, who passed away peacefully at his home in White Lake on May 2, 2026. Mike was predeceased by his parents, Barrie and Lorraine Hanson (nee Fumerton) of White Lake and sister Jennifer Hanson. He was a loyal, caring brother of Laura Hanson, Martha Overton (Chris) and especially kind and protective big brother of Rachel Hanson. At the age of 48, Michael’s death came far too soon with so much life still ahead of him. The quiet progression of athero sclerotic coronary artery disease claimed his young life with no advance warning.
Mike truly loved his family homestead and White Lake heritage and it influenced his every undertaking and long-term ambitions. From a young age he was a bluegrass enthusiast and guitar player. Mike was also well
known as a talented fiddler – an affinity passed down to him from his grandpa. Michael enjoyed fun times with his nieces and nephews during family visits and adventures and followed their lives with keen interest, care and love.
He spent his career in the Valley as a seasoned G.2 HVAC technician. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed spending time at the hunt camp with his relatives and friends. For the past 25 years Michael was honoured to present the Jennifer Hanson Memorial award at the Arnprior High School graduation in loving memory of his sister. Mike earned the reputation of a hard-working, insightful and helpful worker, neighbour and friend who was down to earth and went about life in a quiet, brave manner.
The loss of Michael and his absence from our lives cuts deeply and we will forever mourn our only brother. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Boyce Funeral Home Ltd, 138 Daniel Street N, Arnprior where family and friends are invited to join the family for visitation on Saturday, May 16, 2026 from 2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. Interment White Lake Community Cemetery at a later date.
