Obituary of Stewart Melanson

William Stewart Melanson

August 21, 1939 - May 5, 2026

William Stewart Melanson, known as Stewart, passed away peacefully at Groves Park Lodge, Renfrew on Tuesday evening, May 5, 2026, at the age of 86.

He is the beloved husband of 66 years to Vivian Melanson (née McLean).

Stewart is survived by his daughter Joy and Brian Pountney and their children Becky (Josh Syme) and Dustin, as well as his great-grandchildren Leah, Colton and Walker.

He was predeceased by his son Bernie.

Also survived by his daughter Patsy Dowd (Ritchie) and their children Erin Robertson (Jason) and family and Lindsay Lascelle.

Dear brother of Shirley Ellison (Doug), June Clough (late Butch), and Glenn Melanson (Lori).

He was predeceased by his parents, William and Alice Melanson (née Glenn) and his sister Evelyn Johnston (Bill).

He will be fondly remembered by the McLean family as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Art Barr held a special place in Stewart’s heart as a constant and dear friend.

Stewart has now been reunited with his best friend Grant, with whom he shared many good times at the Jr. B Packer games.

Special Thank you to Penny and Donny McMillan for their kindness and support for the past two years.

Stewart had a lifelong passion for baseball, hunting, and fishing, and remained a dedicated Toronto Maple Leaf’s fan.

He enjoyed 42 years as a dedicated employee for the Township of McNab Roads Department, where he formed lasting friendships.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Boyce Funeral Home Ltd., 138 Daniel Street N., Arnprior. A Celebration of Stewart's Life will be held Sunday June 28, 2026 at the Arnprior Legion from 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m

In memory of Stewart, donations may be made to the Groves Park Lodge, Renfrew where he was so well cared for by the staff.
