Betty Foran

(nee Dowd)

September 28, 1936 – April 10, 2026

It is with sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Betty Foran (née Dowd) on Friday morning, April 10, 2026, at the Arnprior and District Memorial Hospital at the age of 89. Daughter of the late Hollis and Charlotte (Steele) Dowd.

Beloved wife of the late Aloysius Foran. Loving mother of Kim St. Denis (Paul) of Braeside, Mark Foran of Carleton Place, Tim Foran (Kathie) of Bristol, Quebec. Cherished grandmother of Amanda Foran (late Derek Lepine) and Danica Middleton, and great-grandmother of Jaxon and Myka Lepine. Dear sister of Bruce Dowd of Toronto. Predeceased by her sister Iris Mulligan (late Lynn). Survived by her sister-in-law Annette Chartard Foran (Thomas) of Gatineau. She will be greatly missed by many nieces and nephews.

Betty will be fondly remembered for her selfless and devoted volunteering with the Arnprior- Braeside-McNab-Seniors at Home Program, where her warm heart and gentle spirit brought comfort, joy, and companionship to so many. Her extraordinary artistic talents were a true blessing to everyone around her; with boundless creativity and love, she quilted, knitted, and crocheted the most beautiful quilts and afghans that were gifted to many weddings and baby showers. Sewing was another hidden talent. From sewing Barbie doll clothes to helping with Belgian horse blankets in the winter to keep the horses warm, she was always there to help. Her generous hands also crafted hundreds of cozy scarves and toques for countless organizations across Arnprior, spreading warmth and kindness to those who needed it most. A gifted oil painting artist, she lovingly created stunning portraits and breathtaking scenery that captured the beauty of life itself. Betty was a truly remarkable, wonderfully talented, and extraordinarily generous woman whose kindness and creativity touched so many.

Heartfelt thanks to the doctors, nurses, staff and the amazing palliative care team at the Arnprior Hospital for the compassion and care they showed to Betty and the family during her stay. Your kindness will never be forgotten.

Bettyʼs final care has been entrusted to the Boyce Funeral Home Ltd., 138 Daniel Street N., Arnprior. A private family service will take place at Zion United Church in Luskville, Quebec.

Donations in her memory may be made to the Arnprior Regional Health Foundation.
