Obituary of Bernice Dota

Bernice Ann (Bun) Dota (nee Duhn)

November 25, 1936 – February 21, 2026

It is with extremely heavy hearts that we announce Bernice passed away at the age of 89 years old on Saturday February 21st, 2026 peacefully at home, surrounded by her adoring family and their love.

Beloved wife and best friend of the late John Dota (2024) for over 67 years. Proud and loving mom to their three girls; Barb (Craig), Cindy, and Penny (Freddie). Cherished Granny to Kurt (Tatyana) and Connor. Dearly loved sister of Arthur Duhn (Jean) (late Roberta) and special sister-in-law to Shirley Duhn (late Ensley), Barb Duhn (late Elwood) and Raymond Dota (Doreen). She was predeceased by her brothers Ensley and Elwood, her sister Lorna Kyer (late Glenn), brother-in-law Anthony Dota, sister-in-law Sally Andre and by her parents Arthur and Mazie (Dolan) Duhn.

She will be fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cherished long time family friends.

Mom's love of her family and friends was beyond measure. She was our strength and our guiding light. She will never be forgotten and will remain in our hearts always.

We want to sincerely thank the incredible staff at Carp Commons Retirement Home for their care and support for Bernice during her time there. A special thank you to all of her doctors and medical professionals for their genuine care and guidance over her lifetime. 

Her final arrangements have been entrusted to the Boyce Funeral Home Ltd., 138 Daniel Street N., Arnprior. A private family service will be held.

Mom was a huge supporter of Arnprior (her hometown)  and their various community programs. So for those wishing to contribute to her memory (in lieu of flowers), the family would sincerely appreciate donations be made in her honour to Arnprior-McNab-Braeside Seniors at Home Program or to the Arnprior Food Bank.
