Obituary of William "Bill" Egan
William Francis Egan
“Bill”
July 17, 1938 – February 3, 2026
Our family is saddened to announce the passing of William Francis Egan in the late hours of Tuesday, February 3rd, 2026, in his 88th year.
Bill was the beloved husband of the late Patricia (née Gleeson) and dearly loved father of Maggie Egan (Bruce Blomely), Maureen, and Mary Catherine (Mark Ward). He was the proud Grandpa of Megan and Jason Ward. Dear brother of Catherine Egan and Henry Egan (Allyson), he was predeceased by his sister Patricia Lewis (James) and brother Daniel Egan (Nora). He is also lovingly remembered by his nieces, nephews, and friends.
Bill was born in Cochrane, Ontario, on July 17th, 1938, and moved to the Ottawa Valley at age 16. He began his career with helicopters at Vertol Helicopters in Arnprior, then joined the Department of Transport, where he had the remarkable opportunity to cross the Arctic Circle three times between 1968 and 1971 aboard both the CCGS d’Iberville and the CCGS Louis S. St. Laurent, escorting the SS Manhattan on her historic maiden voyage through the Northwest Passage. Wanting to spend more time with his family, Bill opened a men’s wear store with his longtime friend Brian Carroll, later named Bill Egan’s Men’s Wear in Arnprior, before eventually retiring from Boeing Arnprior. In retirement, Bill cherished time spent with his family and his many lifelong friends.
Bill’s final care and arrangements have been entrusted to the Boyce Funeral Home Ltd., 138 Daniel Street N., Arnprior.
