Obituary of George Harrison
George Robert Harrison
“George from Arnprior”
October 27, 1946 – January 8, 2026
George Robert Harrison passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 8, 2026, at the Ottawa Civic Hospital, at the age of 79. He was the beloved son of the late George and Marie-Jeanne (DuPerron) Harrison. George is survived by his dear brother, James Harrison (Paulette).
Many will fondly remember George from his 15 years as a dedicated employee at Canadian Tire. He also served as a cleaner at the Campbell apartments. Earlier in his career, George worked in a chemical laboratory in Ottawa-a topic he revisited often with great passion and frequency, sharing stories that highlighted his curiosity and intellect.
A true embodiment of Arnprior's community spirit, George was celebrated by the town as a volunteer and was awarded for his unwavering dedication. Often the first local face newcomers encountered, he welcomed them with his unique charm and enthusiasm. Eccentric in both manner and thought, George selflessly cleaned up public spaces around town without seeking any recognition, driven purely by his love for his community.
George was truly a man who remained engaged with the world around him until the end. He will be missed.
George’s arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Boyce Funeral Home Ltd., 138 Daniel Street N., Arnprior. Interment will take place at a later date.
