Obituary of Emilio Di Monte

(Lou)

Emilio Rinaldo Guiseppe Di Monte, affectionately known as “Lou,” was born on July 10, 1936, and passed away suddenly but peacefully on January 10, 2026 at the Renfrew Victoria Hospital.

Lou was a devoted husband and loving father, as well as a cherished grandfather, great-grandfather, father-in-law, brother and uncle. Above all else, the love of his life, wife Beverley, with whom he shared more than 68 years of marriage. Lou and Beverley met in Verdun where they fell in love and were married on February 16, 1957. They were looking forward to celebrating their 69th wedding anniversary on February 16, 2026 , a remarkable testament to a lifetime of love, loyalty, and partnership. Lou often said that Beverley was his first love, his only love, and his best friend.

Lou always put others first. Even in his final months, he never wanted to be a burden and was mindful of not bothering those caring for him, a quiet reflection of the humility, respect, and consideration that defined his life.

Together, Lou and Beverley raised three children in a home grounded in love, structure, and strong values. Lou took great pride in being their father and believed that nothing mattered more than seeing his children become successful, good, and decent people. The moments that brought him the greatest joy were when the entire family gathered together for holidays, celebrations, milestones, or simply being together.

After many years of devoting his work ethic to others, Lou chose to semi-retire, continuing that same dedication through self-employment. From 1987 to 2003 he and Beverley were proud owners of the Pinegrove Motel, in Northbrook Ontario, building a family business through perseverance, teamwork, and shared commitment. Their full retirement began in 2003 in Cornwall, Ontario and finally settled in Arnprior, Ontario.

In 2011, Lou and his family returned to his homeland in Italy, a trip that stood out as a special highlight among the many journeys they shared over the years, from Old Orchard Beach to Italy and everywhere in between. These travels, like family gatherings at home, brought Lou immense joy and were moments he deeply cherished, especially when shared with those he loved most.

Lou had a lifelong passion for hockey competing to his young age of 86 and was a devoted Habs fan. He loved a good joke, enjoyed the occasional cigar, and cherished happy hour with Beverley, whether with a glass of red wine or a perfectly made dry martini, or both! These simple pleasures, shared with family and friends, reflected his appreciation for life and the joy he found in togetherness.

He is survived by his loving wife Beverley DiMonte; his children Terry DiMonte (Jessica), Donna DiMonte, and Dean DiMonte (Letisha); and his grandchildren Kaila (Jonny) Kirsten, and Dylan (Erika); and his great-grandchildren Avery, Alexa, and Anna.

The DiMonte family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. K. Davis, Dr. Greenough, Dr. Garcia, and Dr. Froeschl, as well as the teams and nurses at Arnprior Hospital and the Renfrew Victoria Hospital whose care and dedication meant so much.

Special thanks are extended to the Renfrew County Paramedic Service for their kindness, professionalism, and compassionate support and care during home visits during Lou’s final months.

In words Lou left for his family, he reminded them that life must go on, asking them not to grieve too much, to take care of one another, especially their mother  and to “please keep it all going” after he was gone. He closed, as he always did, with love.

Lou will be deeply missed and forever remembered for his devotion to family, his integrity, his humour, and the love he so freely gave.
