Obituary of William "Art" Goslin
William Arthur (Art) Goslin
January 7, 1930 – October 14, 2025
He hammered his last nail, hung up his smock, turned out the lights and closed the shop door for the last time. Leaving us all with many great memories and cherished pieces of his woodworking from “Art’s Wood Shop”.
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our dad in the early hours of Tuesday October 14, 2025 at the age of 95. He was the son of the late Wm. George and Lillian Goslin (nee Russell) of Galetta. Husband of the late Ghislaine (nee Paradis). Dear father of Connie Findlay (J. Albert Argue), Dunrobin and Deb Coady (Everitt Cassidy), Carp. Beloved Stepfather to Carol Cheverett (late Jim) of Sudbury and Diane Johanson (Jim Baxter) of North Bay. Predeceased by Stepson Donald Johanson. Sadly, missed but lovingly remembered by his Grandsons Chad Findlay (Crissy Heatlie), Lynden and Dakota Coady, Great Grandsons Calahan and Jack Findlay, his Step Grandchildren Ian Chevrette (Monique), Christoper Chevrette and Great Grand Stepdaughter, Kalin Chevrette, who he all adored and looked forward to their visits.
He will be fondly remembered by his special friends, Marvin and Sheila Thomas and Kim and Sandy Trottier of Sturgeon Falls. Art was a phenomenal craftsman. He loved wood working and turned out many pieces that he so kindly shared with anyone who came to chat and visit him. In 1947 he began a career with Ontario Hydro (OPG) where he often talked about the “Original 40” employees that started all together at Chat Falls. He would remind us frequently in later years that he was the last of the remaining “Original 40”. After retirement in 1985 he moved to Sturgeon Falls area and set up a shop. He quickly became known as the Community “Mr. Fix-it”. After the passing of his wife in 2018, he moved back to the Valley next door to his Grandson and Great Grandsons. He again set up a woodworking shop, and you could find him and his boys any time of day working along side each other or just sitting and chatting.
A very special thanks goes out to all the wonderful Caregivers at The Almonte Country Haven-Naismith Lane, as well as The Carp Commons.
There will be no visitation. Private Interment is entrusted to the Boyce Funeral Home Ltd., 138 Daniel St. North, Arnprior K7S 2L3. 613-623-2538. A Masonic and Shriner Honour Guard Service will be conducted at 3PM on Thursday, October 23, 2025 in the Boyce Funeral Home Chapel. For those wishing, Donations to the Galetta Community Association or Carleton Masonic Lodge #465 would be appreciated.
