It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Brenda Mary Thoms, who left us in the early morning hours of Monday, August 25, 2025—her cherished birthday—following a brief illness at the Arnprior and District Memorial Hospital. She was 76. Brenda's departure marks the close of a vibrant life overflowing with unwavering devotion to her loved ones and community in ways that will continue to inspire.
Beloved wife of the late Donald "Don" Thoms (2018). Loving mother of Paula Vincent (Tom Pagé) and Trevor Thoms (Jan). Cherished grandmother of Savannah, Noah (Madyson), Nick (Melanie), Melina and late Jeremy. Doting great-grandmother of Oliver and Nat. Brenda is predeceased by her brothers, Jack Smith (Louise), Robert "Bob" Smith (Susan), and her sister Margaret Ann Gordon (late Ken), as well as her sister-in-law Shirley Thoms. She lives on in the hearts of her nieces and nephews: Jacklyn, Andrew, the late Malcolm, Donnie, Karen, Ken Jr., Rob, and Erica. She will also be missed by a wide circle of special friends and neighbors. Daughter of the late Malcolm "Mac" and Sarah (McManus) Smith.
Professionally, Brenda shone for 28 years in the Sports Department at Canadian Tire, where her expertise made her a favorite among colleagues and customers. In her early years, she assisted at the Dairy, always stepping up with her signature reliability. Brenda stood as a no-nonsense powerhouse, blending straightforward honesty with a fierce, unyielding love for her family that served as the heartbeat of her world.
Brenda’s arrangements have been entrusted to the Boyce Funeral Home Ltd., 138 Daniel Street N., Arnprior. Friends are invited to join the family during visitation on Thursday, August 28, 2025, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. only.
