James Henry MacQuatt

“Harry”

October 1, 1942 – June 26, 2025

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful, yet unexpected passing of James Henry "Harry" MacQuatt at his home in Woodlawn on Thursday afternoon, June 26, 2025, at the age of 82. Harry was predeceased by his beloved wife, Jane Anne MacQuatt (née Ray), his son Mark MacQuatt (April 12, 2015), and his daughter Shelley Moore (Dan) (December 7, 2024). He is survived by his son, Ray MacQuatt. He was the cherished grandfather of Meagan, Brooke, and Cooper. He was also predeceased by his sister Jean Peck (late Leonard) and will be fondly remembered by his many nieces and nephews. Harry leaves behind his dear sisters-in-law Dawn Ray (Lee), Marilyn Ring and Fay Mills (Paul). He was the son of the late Norman and Rachel (Wilson) MacQuatt.

Harry’s life was one of hard work, resilience, and quiet charisma. A skilled heavy equipment operator, he dedicated years of service to West Carleton Township, where his expertise and steady hand earned him respect, before continuing his career with the City of Ottawa following the amalgamation. Colleagues and friends were captivated by his easy-going demeanor, which always carried him gracefully through life’s challenges.

Harry’s arrangements have been entrusted to the Boyce Funeral Home Ltd., 138 Daniel Street N., Arnprior. A celebration of Harry’s life will be held at a later date with interment at Torbolton Cemetery, Woodlawn. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly suggests donations in Harry’s name to a charity of your choice.

Harry’s memory will live on in the laughter shared with his family and friends, the wisdom he imparted, and the love he gave so freely. He will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know him. Rest in peace, dear Harry.
