Douglas Bert Laventure, of White Lake, passed away peacefully at Hospice Renfrew on Saturday, May 24, 2025, at the age of 80. Born to the late Clark and Mildred Laventure, Doug was a cherished brother to Suzanne McBurney (Terry) of Pembroke, Nancy Wicks (Tom) of Toronto, Fay Buchaltz of Renfrew, Robin Laventure of Arnprior, and was predeceased by his brothers Reginald Laventure (late Nancy) and David Laventure (Bonnie). He will be fondly remembered by his many nieces and nephews. Doug worked for Ontario Hydro in his working years. In his early years, he worked in the office but entered in the trade of a linesman, he also was self-employed for a few years in his own business, Laventure Power Line Construction. An avid outdoorsman he loved fishing and hunting and just being in nature. He was sought out as an expert in this region for his knowledge of guns, repairs, sighting and all things associated with hunting rifles. Doug was also a lefty and a very good artist and wood carver of wildlife that truly are treasured by friends and family. Doug’s arrangements have been entrusted to the Boyce Funeral Home Ltd., 138 Daniel Street N., Arnprior. A private family graveside service will be held at Sand Point Public Cemetery. In memory of Doug, a donation to Hospice Renfrew would be appreciated.
