Just looking at obituary and thought should read it. Haven’t had any contact with any of the Laventures since Reg passed away. Visited them and then just him several times. My condolences to all your families.

Our sincerest condolences to the Laventure family. Doug was a gentle soul, always very helpful and willing to share his vast knowledge with us. As new neighbors, we enjoyed our many chats with Doug over the years. We will miss him.

We were so saddened to hear of Doug's passing. He was a very kind man. When we bought our farm on the lake, Doug put in our power line. As a wedding gift to us he only charged us for the materials (lines/ poles), he provided the labour for free ! That line and poles are still standing 44 years later. He was a genuinely good person. He will be sorely missed.

My condolence's to Laventure family.
Doug was a great person who shared a lot of his time and conversation with everyone he knew. We spent countless hours fishing and moose hunting together and relived the stories year after year. Doug was a good friend and will be missed.

Doug was a great neighbour and a long time friend of the family. Despite all of his health challenges over the years, he loved working outdoors and looking after his beautiful home in the woods. He shared so many great stories of back in the day and his knowledge of firearms was legendary. We’ll miss you passing by in the red truck Doug, happy dog hanging out the window. Rest in peace.

Thoughts and prayers for Doug's family at this sad time.
Met Doug back in the 70s when he worked at Noranda for a short. Plus my wife's family (Pell's) were neighbors back when. We both agree you couldn't find a nicer person.
RIP Doug.
