Obituary of Dorothy Russett
May 19, 1959-February 3, 2025
Dorothy Russett, 65, passed away on Monday February 3, 2025, at the Ottawa Civic Hospital following complications from surgery. Dorothy is predeceased by her husband Glen Dubois. She is the beloved sister of Sybrand “Syb” Russett and the daughter of the late Robert “Bob” and Annie (nee Bron) Russett.
Dorothy’s life was defined by her deep connection to the land and her unwavering commitment to helping others. She was a dairy farmer at heart, helping on the family farm and spending years milking cows for Brian Potter—a job that wasn’t just a livelihood but a calling. She took pride in her work, rising before dawn and finding satisfaction in the rhythm of the farm. As a 4-H club leader, she passed on her love for agriculture to the next generation, teaching kids the value of hard work and responsibility. She also had a surprising side gig: teaching scuba diving, a skill she shared with the same patience and care she brought to everything else.
For much of her career, Dorothy worked as a Personal Support Worker (PSW), a role that suited her nurturing spirit. She had a gift for making people feel at ease, whether through a kind word, a listening ear, or a small act of care that spoke volumes. Those she looked after often remembered her long after their paths diverged, a testament to the impact she made.
Dorothy spent her final years at Groves Park Lodge in Renfrew, where she felt much at home. The family is deeply grateful to the staff for their dedication and for making her days brighter and more comfortable.
Dorothy’s arrangements are in the care of Boyce Funeral Home Ltd., 138 Daniel Street N., Arnprior.
A visitation to honor Dorothy’s life will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2025, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. Syb and the family welcome all who knew her to come and share in remembering the woman she was—steady, kind, and quietly extraordinary.
