Obituary of Mike Riches

Riches, Mike April 7,1943-July 22, 2016 Peacefully at home following a lengthy battle on July 22, 2016, Michael Lyon Riches, in his 74th year. Predeceased by his parents, Terrance and Margaret (nee Lyon) of Ottawa, and his wife Marian (nee Charbonneau) of Calabogie. Survived by his sister Mary Goodberry (Tom) of Galetta. Revered and loved father of Tony (Carlotta Virgin) of Calabogie, respected and admired stepfather of Cindy Walsh (George) of Whitby, Doug Magee and Kevin Magee (Debbie) of Ottawa. A police officer for ten years, then a successful businessman, first in insurance adjusting then as the owner of Arnprior's Classic Golf Centre, Mike leaves behind many suppliers, customers and fellow professionals that became friends long after his retirement. A dog owner as long as his health permitted, and a lover of all creatures great and small, his properties served as a safe haven for many wild animals year round. Arrangements entrusted to the Boyce Funeral Home, Chapel, Visitation and Reception Centre, 138 Daniel Street N., Arnprior . At his specific request, there will be no ceremony, only a cremation. In lieu of flowers, Mike asked that donations be made to local humane societies and the Hospice Renfrew. Special thanks to the PSW's of Paramed and nurses of Bayshore, as well as the fine surgeons of the Ottawa Hospital campuses for supporting his courageous fight.
